Medical Center Ophthalmology Associates is proud to welcome board-certified ophthalmologist Dr. Shanna Brown to our team of specialists!
Dr. Brown is a clinically trained, comprehensive ophthalmologist specializing in advanced surgical treatment. Her expertise includes cataract surgery using cutting-edge intraocular lenses like Light Adjustable Lenses (LALs), as well as pterygium excision surgery, YAG capsulotomies and peripheral iridotomies. Her commitment to patient-first ophthalmic care blends innovation and high-level vision services with compassion and precision.
Dr. Brown earned her medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine where she graduated magna cum laude. She then completed an internship in preliminary internal medicine at University of Texas at San Antonio Health Sciences Center, followed by an ophthalmology residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, where she served as a co-chief resident. Prior to her medical training, she earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from Prairie View A&M University, graduating summa cum laude.
Dr. Brown is widely regarded as a trusted leader in the Texas medical community. She was recognized as a 2016 graduate of the Texas Medical Association Leadership College, which supports physician leaders in bridging the gap between clinicians, policymakers and their communities. In 2014, she was awarded the Physician Spotlight for her involvement in Project Access Tarrant County, a local initiative that provides healthcare access to those uninsured and economically disadvantaged in Tarrant County. She is also an active member in the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Brown will see patients at MCOA’s Northwest, Northeast, Stone Oak and Westover practices.
