What is the

EVO ICL?

The EVO ICL is an additive lens to treat nearsightedness and astigmatism in qualified patients. The ICL (implantable collamer lens) is an additive lens placed behind the iris and in front of the natural lens.

Unlike other vision correction procedures, the EVO ICL does not involve removing any tissue from the eye or reshaping the eye to correct vision. These reasons make the EVO ICL an excellent choice if you want to improve your vision but don't necessarily want to do so permanently.

What is the EVO ICL Made Of?

The EVO ICL is made of a material called collamer. Collamer comes from collagen, which makes it highly biocompatible with the natural chemistry of the eye.

Because of this, the EVO ICL can be placed in the eye without causing adverse reactions like dry eye, irritation, or discomfort. This also makes the EVO ICL especially well-suited for patients with dry eyes or those who may not be good candidates for other procedures like LASIK because of dry eye syndrome.

Can EVO ICL Be Removed?

Although the EVO ICL is meant to be a permanent method of vision correction, your eye doctor can remove it from your eye at any time at any time at Medical Center Ophthalmology Associates. The EVO ICL is the only reversible vision correction procedure available, making it incredibly enticing to patients who love correcting their vision without settling for something permanent.

The option to remove the EVO ICL gives patients much-needed peace of mind. You'll achieve crisper, clearer vision thanks to the EVO ICL while knowing it can be removed for any reason.

How is EVO ICL Different from Other Procedures?

The most significant difference between the EVO ICL and other procedures is that it's reversible. However, there are other differences as well. These include:

  • The EVO ICL is an excellent choice if you're severely nearsighted, as it can correct up to -20.0 diopters of nearsightedness and treat up to 4.0 diopters of astigmatism
  • The EVO ICL is well-suited for patients with dry eyes
  • Choosing the EVO ICL means improved vision in all lighting, including if it's dim or extremely bright outside
  • The EVO ICL features a built-in UV filter to protect your eyes while you're outside in the sun
  • The EVO ICL does not remove any tissue from the cornea or remove the natural lens from the eye

Who is a Good Candidate for the EVO Visian ICL?

There's a lot to love about the EVO ICL, but because it's a vision correction procedure, this means it's not suitable for everyone. You may be a good candidate for the EVO ICL if:

You have a stable prescription that's remained unchanged for a year or more
You're not currently pregnant or nursing
You're between 21 and 45 years of age
You have realistic expectations about what the EVO ICL can achieve
You have healthy eyes
You're nearsighted with astigmatism

If you think you may be a good candidate for the EVO ICL, take the next step by requesting your consultation at Medical Center Ophthalmology Associates. Your consultation will involve having your eye doctor perform a series of tests to measure your eyes. You'll also learn more about the procedure and what to expect during it.

What Can I Expect During the EVO ICL Procedure?

If you're a good candidate for the EVO ICL, the next step will be scheduling your procedure. On the day of your EVO ICL procedure at Medical Center Ophthalmology Associates, you'll start by receiving numbing eye drops that dilate your pupils.

These help ensure you won't feel any pain during the vision correction procedure. Once these have a chance to disperse over the surface of your eye, your surgeon will create a small incision to insert the EVO ICL at the base of your cornea.

The EVO ICL is folded up, unfolded, and positioned within your eye. Your surgeon will ensure the EVO ICL is in the correct position and make any necessary adjustments.

After this, the EVO ICL procedure is finished. Most patients start noticing almost immediate improvements in their vision.

Your ophthalmologist at Medical Center Ophthalmology Associates will prescribe eye drops to help prevent infection and reduce inflammation during healing. Because your vision will be unstable, you'll need a trusted friend or family member to drive you home.

What are the Benefits of

Choosing the EVO ICL?

If you're considering a procedure like the EVO ICL, you may be wondering what its benefits are. These include:

Better Vision

When you correct your vision with the EVO ICL, you can look forward to sharper vision, more vibrant colors, and better visual clarity. You may think your sight was clear when you depended on visual aids, but after choosing the EVO ICL, you can look forward to improvements far beyond your original prescription.

Most patients have 20/20 vision or better and have excellent depth perception and dimension.

Reversible Procedure

No other procedure provides the peace of mind that the EVO ICL does because it's reversible. Whether you change your mind or need to replace it with an IOL later in life during cataract surgery, it's possible. The EVO ICL is the only reversible vision correction procedure.

Minimally Invasive

The EVO ICL is a minimally invasive procedure. Unlike other vision correction procedures, it does not remove any tissue from the eye to correct vision.

Corrects a High Amount of Nearsightedness

The EVO ICL corrects a higher amount of nearsightedness than other vision correction procedures can. Because of this, it makes the EVO ICL an excellent choice for severely nearsighted patients looking to correct their vision.
